Transitioning from CCBC to a Four-Year Institution
CCBC is a fantastic first step on your way to a four-year degree! Most four-year degrees, regardless of major, require significant coursework in the humanities. By completing general education courses required by a four-year institution at CCBC, you can save money and work around your schedule! Plus, the critical thinking and oral communication skills, as well as the background knowledge gained through the many reading and writing assignments, help all students be better prepared for the workplace.
At CCBC, we offer all students resources to simplify transferring through our Transfer Planning program and our Degrees to Succeed Program. If you’re planning your transfer from the first day you attend CCBC, our Transfer Planning program outlines a step-by-step process to guide you through making decisions about courses to enroll in and four-year programs to investigate. The Humanities program is a great place to start when planning to transfer credits from CCBC to a four-year institution! Our courses are designed specifically for ease of transferring to other institutions because they focus on how to effectively communicate with individuals across diverse backgrounds, a key element to any education and future career success!
Every CCBC student has access to a transfer advisor, guidance on financial aid and scholarships, and a wealth of information about the four-year institutions CCBC works with to ease your transition. Through our transfer partnerships and articulation agreements we formally partner with over 15 Maryland four-year private and public institutions. We can help you maximize your CCBC credits and prepare you for an advanced degree. At any point in your time at CCBC you can request a meeting with an advisor to guide you through the process and help you decide how best to spend your time and budget while here at CCBC.
Another way to use your CCBC education toward a four-year degree is through our Degrees to Succeed Program. By being admitted to both CCBC and one of our 4-year transfer partners, Degrees to Succeed students can save money and fast track their educational and career goals, while getting support from both schools! Benefits include guaranteed admission to both schools and guidance on financial incentives and scholarship opportunities.
The Humanities for All initiative offers an additional opportunity to familiarize yourself with four-year institutions through the Mellon Scholar Summer Research Experience at The Johns Hopkins University. This 10-week paid internship introduces recipients to the techniques of humanities research, building a learning community around a project, while exposing participants to a four-year institution.
Whether you begin your CCBC journey planning on transferring to a four-year institution or if you decide to transfer while already enrolled, we’ll help make the transition as smooth as possible!
